Air Vistara Begins Sale of Tickets For Flights Operating from January 9 Onwards
Delhi: An airline joint venture of the Tatas and Singapore Airlines, Air Vistara has started selling tickets. The airline will start operating its flights from January 9 onwards for different sectors. Initially, the flight will be flying on the Delhi – Mumbai route and follow it up with flights on the Delhi – Ahmedabad & Mumbai – Ahmedabad. As per an executive of a reputed online travel portal, EaseMyTrip.com, Vistara is offering lowest airfares on a 30-day advance purchase, on the Delhi – Mumbai route is approx. Rs. 5,500, Rs. 4,900 in Delhi-Ahmedabad route and Rs. 3,800 Mumbai-Ahmedabad. Moreover, there will not be a separate fuel surcharge charged on tickets.
Headquartered in New Delhi, Vistara is all set to start operations with a fleet of brand new Airbus A 320-200s with 148 seats. The aircraft will have a three-class configuration with 16 business class seats, 36 premium economy class seats and remaining economy class. The airline will also be introducing a frequent flyer programme – ‘Club Vistara’ in which passengers will get to earn points on the basis of money spent on tickets, not on the miles travelled.
Phee Teik Yeoh, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Vistara said that he is very excited as the day is finally at the culmination of months of hard work. He further added that the activation of distribution channels is a company’s first interface with its customer and with this, Vistara on a journey to fulfill its brand promise of flawless travel experience.
The technology partners of Vistara are Tata Consultancy Services Ltd (TCS), Wipro Ltd and Amadeus, which will be responsible for its customer support system and IT services. It is to be added that Vistara will launch its Ahmedabad flight days before “the Vibrant Gujarat festival”. Vistara is also planning to add 20 aircrafts in the next first five years of its operations. While unveiling the name of the airline, the company said that the name ‘Vistara’ is derived from Sanskrit word Vistaar that means limitless expanse, and thus, draws inspiration from the brand’s domain – the limitless sky.
With a rival low-cost carrier SpiceJet is floundering, it is a good time for Vistara to start operations due to the cancellation of flights by the stricken Kalanithi Maran-owned carrier has led to fears rolling drastically.
