New Delhi: Flying will never be cheaper than this, when India’s national carrier Air India is offering air tickets for Rs. 100 (taxes will be applicable) on the occasion of its annual day, ‘Air India Day’ which will be celebrated today. The sale of this special five day offer will begin from August 27 to August 31 and will be valid for booking for travel during the period of August 27, 2014 to September 30, 2014. However, one can do the booking need to be done only through the airline’s website.

The ‘Air India Day’ will be celebrated as the merger day of Air India and Indian Airlines, where the meritorious employees of the airlines will also be awarded. Air India was merged with Indian Airlines into one airline as Air India on August 27, 2007. According to the official spokesperson of the airline, this is the very first time that the airline is celebrating the ‘Air India Day’. An enormous function will be held to commemorate the day and also to award meritorious employees of the airline.

It seems that this year, air carriers have started a fare-war to lure flyers and book their tickets well in advance. Earlier on Tuesday, AirAsia India announced to offer tickets at Rs. 600 only for advance bookings. To avail the offer of AirAsia India, one should book the tickets by August 31 for travel period between October 26, 2014 and October 24, 2015. While, on Monday, another low-cost air carrier offered festive discounted fares starting as low as Rs. 1, 888, which is to be booked by August 27, 2014 for travel between September 25, 2014 and January 15, 2015.
